Visiting Beirut

I'm due to arrive on 28th march. Is it
safe with the recent bombings in
beirut? Is it safe to travel by bus to
Damascus?
Anybody knows any private rooms for
rent in Beirut? How about the American
University, was told it has rooms for
travellers?
Can someone help me....thanks a MILLION!
