Skiing In Lebanon, Is A Privilege

Lebanon is the only country in the world where you can ski on snow in the morning and swim in the balmy waters of the Mediterranean in the afternoon. The size and geography of the country, with the Lebanon mountain range rising up above a narrow coastal strip, are such that even the highest resorts are only a short drive from the coast. Due to the fact that the mountain range is a narrow chain, the views that the tops of the pistes offer on a clear day are particularly spectacular. From the top of Mzaar, the highest point above the resort of Ouyoune el Siman, the Beqaa Vallley and the Anti Lebanon mountain range can be seen to one side, and to the other, the city of Beirut and the coastal town of Jounieh are clearly visible. For four months of the year, the slopes of this mountain range lie beneath a covering of snow, and thousands of skiers take to the pistesof Lebanon's six winter resorts.

Since the resorts of Faraya-Mzaar, Faqra, Qanat Bakish and Zaarour are all on different faces of the same mountain, it may be possible in the furure to link them with lifts to create one large ski area.
