Hilton set to open 4 new hotels in Middle East Hilton International has revealed that its four new properties under development will open within the next two years. Hilton’s first Lebanon property in Beirut is set to open later this year with 162 rooms, the new-look Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa in Egypt will reopen in the first quarter of next year with 235 rooms. Hilton will make its foray into Jordan with the Hilton Amman, at the mixed-use Gate development, and the Hilton Tala Bay Aqaba Riveira, both opening in 2009.

Zahr El-Laymoun to blossom this fall Lebanon-based F&B force Blends Food Development is set to launch its latest culinary work of art Zahr El Laymoun this fall. Zahr El Laymoun, or orange blossom, is an oriental kitchen and grill café where one can watch one’s meal being prepared and escape the hustle and bustle for a home-made dessert or a coffee in an inviting home-like atmosphere. Conceptualized with simplicity and health in mind, Zahr El Laymoun offers grilled and baked Lebanese dishes, as well as salads and mezze seasoned with natural herbs, oriental spices, and nuts. The new concept is also geared at take away service providing quick service to walk-through, home, and/or business clients. Scheduled to debut in Lebanon in October on the Dbayeh Highway, the first of a series of projected Zahr El Laymoun outlets will seat up to 220 people. Franchise deals for the UAE, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia have already been signed, with openings slated for 2009, the company said.

Two more Starbucks outlets to tango in Lebanon Dareen International Co., the Lebanon subsidiary of Kuwait’s Al Shaya Group, has pierced the bustling areas of Quraitem and Ain El Mraisi, West Beirut with the opening of two Starbucks outlets. The first is located near the Lebanese American University (LAU) in Quraitem, in Siran Towers and can fit up to 90 people, and the other in Ain El Mraisi, close to the Sea Gate of the American University of Beirut (AUB). It can seat some 100 people. “Starbucks stores provide a ‘third place’ for customers between home and work to spend time and relax with friends, offering comfortable seating and a great atmosphere,” commented Antoun Abou Jaoude, Marketing Manager of Starbucks Middle East and Egypt. The aim behind opening the 15th and 16th Starbucks branches in Lebanon is to attract students and young professionals to the busy districts.

New Lebanon restaurants make no reservation to theme Theme restaurants relevant to everyday life are on the rise in Lebanon. Buns and Guns, a new fast food restaurant in Beirut’s southern suburbs has recently opened, boasting guns, bullets, sandbags, pictures of other weapons and sandwiches too. At Buns and Guns, chefs in military uniform would prepare Kalashnikov or RPG sandwiches against a backdrop of roaring explosions. Another F&B outlet generating buzz is Facebook Pub in the bustling Monot Street. Believed to be the first in the world inspired by the online version, the Facebook Pub is done up in navy blue and white with a ‘wall’ where people would leave messages about plans and destinations. Phase 2 of Kempinski Residences Alabadiyah Hills, Lebanon launched IFA Hotels & Resorts and JV partner Kuwait Real Estate Company have launch branded serviced apartments Kempinski Residences Alabadiyah Hills as part of the freehold Alabadiyah Hills resort in Dhour Abadiyah village, between Bhamdoun and Aley. Phase two of the mixed-use complex comprises four towers of four floors each, offering penthouses and one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments for sale, with the option of a five-star hotel and furniture packages. The complex will be managed by Kempinski Hotels, and will feature upscale restaurants and cafes. Alabadiyah Hills is comprised of 15 private villas, 30 townhouses, and 220 luxury apartments with their own swimming pools and gardens. The development also hosts recreational facilities including a members-only health club, gymnasium and tennis court. Targeted at high-net worth individuals living overseas, the project allows this segment of investors to holiday in their own luxurious apartments and gain an income from letting out idle properties when not in use, IFA said.
