Deir Al Ahmar

Your heart will fall down after your visit to Bekaa Deir Al Ahmar, with its raging streams, green pastures and Phoenician vestiges. The Al Yammouna Lake (small lake according to the Syriac Etymology) is probably the most beautiful of all the archeological sites.
It is located on the curvature of Mount Al Mounaytra, at overlooks the Bekaa plateau.
Set at the bottom of an abyss nested by high cliffs, its northeastern side is a fell that plays the role of a dam in the face of water preventing it, therefore, from flowing away. The length of the pond is 2 kilometers odd and its width around 1000m. The northern part of the pond on the mountain slope that overlooks it, is  a spring whose waters are purer than tears. The waterfall of Al Yammouna is around 500m high and the ruins of the fences and pillars on its bank intimate the existence of an ancient Roman temple.
