Faqra
Located near the Faraya-Mzaar resort,
Faqra is distant 54km from Beirut, and
it would take about 1:15 hours by car
to reach the resort.
How
to get there:
Head
north
and follow the coastal highway to the
Dog River after the tunnel and then
turn right, up towards Zouk Mosbeh.
Follow the main road which will cross
several villages like Jeitta,
Ballouneh, Feytroun, Faraya village
and finally Faqra.
Faraya
Located in the heart of Mount Lebanon,
Faraya is distant 40 km and Ouyoune El
Simane 46km from Beirut, and it would
take about 1:15 hours by car to reach
the resort.
How
to get there:
Follow the
coastal highway to the Dog River after
the tunnel and then turn right, up
towards Zouk Mosbeh. Follow the main
road which will cross several villages
like Jeitta, Ballouneh, Feytroun,
Faraya village and finally Ouyoune El
Simane.
Laqlouq
Located between
Faraya-Mzaar resort and the Cedars,
Laqlouq is distant 62km from Beirut,
and it would take about 1 hour and
fifteen minutes by car to reach the
resort.
Laqlouq is one of the best resorts
suited for cross country skiing.
How
to get there:
Follow the coastal
highway to the city of Jbeil, and then
turn up towards Annaya, St. Charbel
monastery; turn right at the army
checkpoint and follow the road to
Ihmij village, just below Laqlouq
resort.
Qanat
Bakish
Distant 47km
from Beirut, it would take about 1:30
hours by car to reach Qanat Bakish
resort.
Its ski resort is well known for the
quality of its snow and it is visited
by skiers of all levels who enjoy the
non-crowded slopes as it is the case
with most of the other resorts.
How
to get there:
One possible route to the
resort is to head north on the coastal
highway until reaching Antelias, and
then turn up towards Bikfaya then
Baskinta village just below Qanat
Bakish. Another alternative is to
reach Faqra resort and continue from
there towards Baskinta village
The
Cedars The
Cedars resort has a slightly longer
season than the others, sometimes
beginning early November and often
lasting until late April.
The Cedars is a resort for all
seasons. In summer the high elevation
makes it a wonderful escape from the
humid coast while in winter skiing is
the favorite activity.
The Cedar is an historical entity
mentioned often in the
Bible
and other ancient texts and it played
an important part in the culture,
trade and religious observances of the
ancient Middle East. Serious
exploitation of these forests began in
the third millennium B.C. The most
famous cedars, known as Arz el Rab or
Cedars of the Lord. Located in the north of Lebanon,
the Cedars are distant 130km from
Beirut, and it would take about 2
hours by car to reach the resort.
How
to get there:
Follow the coastal highway to Chekka,
south of Tripoli in the north, and
then turn up towards Amioun. The road
will cross several villages like
Kousba, Tourza, Hadet, Hasroun,
Bazaoun and Bcharreh.
Zaarour Located to the south of all other
resorts, Zaarour is distant 54km from
Beirut, and it would take about 1:30
hours by car to reach the resort.
Zaarour is also very well known for
the excellent opportunity for
cross-country skiing over a distance
of more that 40 km on the Sannine
mountain. As a private resort, it is
well controlled with excellent
security measures taken to avoid
incidents.
How
to get there:
One
possible route is to leave Beirut from
Sin el Fil area and start climbing
through Mansourieh, Beit Meri,
Brummana, and Baabdad villages and
then continue upwards through Bikfaya,
Dhour Choueir and Mrouj. Another
alternative is to head north on the
coastal highway until reaching
Antelias, and then head up directly to
Bikfaya and continue as mentioned
above.
